Are dental services covered by insurance in Poulsbo, WA?
Yes, many dental services at Finn Hill Dental in Poulsbo, WA are covered by insurance. We accept most PPO plans and are in-network with Ameritas, Regence, United Concordia, and Delta. Our team will bill your insurance directly and help clarify your specific coverage before your appointment.
As a courtesy to our patients, we have dedicated and experienced account managers who will bill any dental insurance plan except state insurance (i.e. Medicare, Apple Health, DSHS) and managed care plans (e.g. DeltaCare, Willamette).

For information about in-network vs. out-of-network benefits, annual maximums, and frequency limitations of specific services, please refer to your insurance plan via the insurance company’s customer service support. Many companies have helpful online portals, and all insurance companies provide toll-free numbers on your insurance card.
Patients with Multiple Insurance Plans
We will process insurance claims for up to two insurance plans per patient. If a patient is covered by more than two insurance plans, we will provide the paperwork needed for you to communicate with additional insurance companies.
Dual coverage will affect the billing process.
If you are covered by more than one insurance plan, you must give our accounting staff this information before being seen by the doctor.
Multiple insurance plans require specific communication and documentation, and we must abide by the rules set forth by the insurance companies. Not providing complete information to our Poulsbo dental office will delay payments and may cause insurance companies to refuse payment, resulting in the patient being responsible for the entire cost of the visit.
Delta Care Plans
We do not accept Delta Care plans. Patients with Delta Care must choose a designated dental office, and their plan will not pay anything if they are seen outside of that assigned office. This is often confusing because we are in network with Delta Dental PPO, and patients sometimes assume that includes Delta Care.
Humana & UnitedHealthcare
For Humana and UnitedHealthcare plans, if the policy does not specifically list both in-network and out-of-network benefits, the insurance company will not cover services provided out of network. Patients are responsible for confirming their coverage.
Insurance Verification
We strongly encourage patients to always visit their insurance website and/or call their insurance company before seeing any provider to confirm coverage and benefits.
Out-of-Network Estimates
For out-of-network insurance plans, the best way for us to provide an accurate estimate is to submit a pre-authorization before treatment. Insurance companies do not share fee schedules for out-of-network providers, so estimates are based on our office fees. This can result in higher out-of-pocket costs, and the exact patient responsibility may not be known until insurance processes the claim.
Insurance Changes
If a patient’s insurance changes, we require the updated insurance information before the appointment date. Last-minute insurance changes can cause delays and put our schedule behind.
